Default How much drag when doing a valve adjustment?

Just wondering how much drag I should feel on the feeler gauge when doing a valve adjustment. Thanks

Well it is between 2 values. I did it so the lowest value had a bit of drag- so it barely fit. And then the next value up slid freely.

Snug enough to where your next size up gauge won't fit.

Leave the feeler gauge in when you tighten the nut...shud still be able to pull it out after you tighten it...

Big mistake people make.

That confused me. Two values?

Slight drag is the key. Just to where you start to feel some drag and no more. If it's really tight and hard to move, you are at the next size down.

You will. The term "slight drag" is what will throw you off. Think about it this way...the size of the feeler guage you are using is the amount of gap you want. So enough that its in there snug, but you can still pull it out. Try and ignore the term "slight drag."

Everyones covered it fine so far but just to add a bit more if you can get the feeler gauge between the rocker and the cam (even if it takes a lot of pressure), that's your clearance...

slight drag is a very subjective statement. just do it to where the next size larger gauge doesnt fit.
