No need to disconnect battery, unless you are borderline spastic and don't trust yourself around live wires. Use a wiring harness, good connectors, and the right crimpers and you're in.

Crimping is easier imo. But there is no need to disconnect the battery as long as you dont touch the 12v power wire to anything metal. If you did happen to touch it to something it will just blow the fuse anyway. To disconnect the battery just take the negative terminal off.

solder w/ heatshrink or nice crimps (Aamp makes good stuff-if it's good enough for NASA it's good enough for me!). Either one will do fine. Good luck.

i eneded up not disconnecting it. i feared it might blew up in my face, that happenned to my friend. instead i just plugged it in. soldered the wires and then wrapped them in electrical tape. it looks good. next weekend i will ground it to the chasis. right now it is just on a piece of metal aboce the ash tray.

The first step to any installation is to disconnect the battery!!

Usually, when you don't, a thread follows the next day with a title along the lines of:

"Help, my dash lights don't work"

or something of that nature. Unless you absolutely need it connected, I always recommend you disconnect it. It can save you some hassles down the line.
