Default B16a in a DA....

WHats up guys, My girl has a 92 teg and is ready for a swap, b18a is gettin old.... I was just wondering how easy of a swap the b16a1 is for the da? I know the only real big thing is runnin the new vtec wires, but is there anything else major that has to be done? new motor mounts, etc.? thanks!

might want to check out http://www.g2ic.com for more info on this swap. although, i'm sure a search here would yeild many results.

but it is a popular swap.

btw, g2ic is once again down for a few days.

Pretty simple swap nothing really difficult, I still retained my motor mounts, with a little fabrication.

the motor just drops right in, but since your girls integra is a 92, you have to buy the odb1 b16, and for that price just spend the couple hundred $$ and buy a jdm b18c.. if thats to much, and thinking about the non odb b16, you have to swap the distriubutor and injectors.. very easy swap just some parts swaping thats all

it is a pretty direct swap, but you are losing displacement going from a 1.8L to a 1.6L, i would also go for the b18c gsr swap, you are not going to really lose any torque, and there is a nice hp gain

if you go with the b18c swap, people are forgetting to tell you that you cant use the tranny it comes with without a cable/hydro conversion kit and a custom upper tranny mount! with the b18c you could use your ls tranny that you have but it wont be geared accordingly to the motor, or you could buy a cable vtec tranny.
the cheapest and easiest way to do your swap is to buy the obd0 change over, switch the distributor and injectors to obd 1, use your wiring harness and wire in the knock and vtec wires and run a p30, p61 or chipped p28 ecu

LS trannys arent too bad mated with a b18c. The b18c has the torque to pull through those gears. Its the b16 you want to stay away from with the LS tranny, unless your boosting or on a serious budget!

I have a B16 in my 90' w/ an LS Transmission, i cant stand the long gears on the street anymore, but if you want to go fast on the highway LS is the way to go, the long gearing is beautiful. b16's arent bad in integra's but they are far from fast. I pulled a 14.89 w/ bolt ons I/H/E/CTR cams and a VAFC (tuned).
Motor Mounts will work: B series to B Series
Wiring: not hard
id suggest the 0BD0 conversion so you dont have to deal w/ the cable to hydro!!
Good Luck

It took me about 9 hours of total work time, 2 hrs of which were getting the rear motor mount on/off.

Its real easy, like texnteg said, on g2ic.com there is a full-write up in the Teg Tips section, read it a few times, then read which pins you have to swap, and it'll be a breeze
