Default help me im a newbie

ok guys 5 months ago i bought me my frist killer car :} yup a 92 honda prelude but only one problem its a type s :{ and its got 200k on it no big deal there runs like a champ and the motor looks CLEAN no oil anywhere that i can see.

few things i need help and info on.

1: my center consol around my sterio and my air vents is cracked. need a new one where can i get one and get it in a red color.
2: my door pannel where the handle and buttons are is craked also need 2 new ones and need them red color
3:yaup another crak this time its the plastic part around the hand brake. need a new one of those would love to have that whole piller red too.

thats it for inside with craks that is

i seem to have a rattle in my roof when its fully closed i can hear a rattle but i cant see anything moving in there. if i open it and close it the sound goes away untill i hit a bump or something along the way and it rattles again.

now for my speed tech questions

i have a crappy f22 and im wanting to swap it. thinking of later down the road adding a turbo so keep that in mind. should i swap for an h22 or an h23 with a h22 head on it? dont break the bank if the h23 will cost me alot more than the h22. also another ? that was never answerd for me whats the difference between an h22 and the h23 with the h22 head on it? just more tq? whats the hp look like on it?

the tranny that the h22 i can get is either the lsd or the non lsd, the non lsd is about 2500$ installed the lsd is 3200-3400 installed. can i just use the phantom grip to get the lsd like tranny?

the only reason i need the swap is my trannys syncro is busted and i grind going into 3rd :{ other than that the car runs like REALLY good. but i did blow a spark plug out of its white thing and blew a head gasket downshifting off the free way a bit early.

now when i get the motor swap what upgrades should i add to it right off the bat while its getting installed? to save me on install costs later.

headers? thinking of dc sports 4-2-1 but whats the big diff between the 4-2-1 to the 4-1?

now exaust's im looking for something that is deep sounds good none of that tin can sounding stuff.

should i get a vtech controler? what are the benifits of having one other than changing the rpm range when vtech kick's in. also heard that turning vtech on too early wont help.

now for paint jobs im looking to change its color from red to blue or maby a nice slate grey looking color. is it more expensive to change the color or to keep it red looking? and how much would a decent paint job cost? dont need 20 layers of paint just enough to look good. cant blow all my cash on the paint job.

when i do upgrade to a turbo what kind of trouble am i getting my self into? i want to keep my car N/A for the respect factor but thats alot of cash to get it going fast N/A style.

how much would it cost to have the h22 ported and polished befor i had it installed? is it a good idea to spend the extra money on it? what kind of hp gains will i see from it?

sorry for all the noob questions i have been reading this fourm for the last 3 days looking at the h23 vtech but still could not find the diff between the h23 vtech and the h22.

PLZ PLZ PLZ help me

Ryan new to the lude seen.
if your in Rowland heights Ca hit me up on aim. Chipper0069

1. your car is NOT a type S. it is an S model
2. VTEC
3. center console = junkyard. black only.
4. door panel = read 3.
5. hand brake = read 3.
6. sunroof =
7. read the essential prelude links

The difference betweem the h23 vtec and the h22 are the stroke differences. Hence the 2.2 liters of the h22 and the 2.3 liters of the h23 and if you put the h22 head on the h23 block you will get around the Hp and more tourque than the h22.

DO SOME SEARCHING ON TURBOS IN THE TURBO FORUM.

You need to know what all is incorporated into turbo. Lots of time and money and if not done right hardships. Hondas are not ment to be turbo'd. But they are not ment to be built up either so you could run into any problems either way you go. You just got to whey your options and know what kind of resources you have I.E. money, mechanical abitlity.

Do some searching on exhaust's. There is plenty of info there. You want a header. NOT HEADERS and DC sucks. its a waste of money. Also you want to turbo so you dont even need one.

You should be able to do a trans swap for like 800 to 1000 if you do it yourself. And if you dont know how you will have alot of problems when you want to build a motor because labor costs will kill you.

A port polish job could run between 600 to 1500 dollars depending on how crazy you want to go.

I think thats it but you really need to do some searching and god please remember its VTEC not vtech, thats a phone co. man!!!!!

As stated hit a junkyard for most of that stuff. You can get vinyl paint to make it red, it looks nice if thats what your into.
As far as a motor swap I would stick with an h22a4 or a1 motor dont go swapping heads it just makes it more complicated than it needs to be. trannys are usually sold with the engine for around 2500.00 - as high as 5000.00 depends on how many miles are on the engine tranny combo. use the search function for details and opinions on any question you may have.
look up and to the right see it "search" click and search!

u will never pass a ref inspection w/ h23 vtec, and for the paint job, that $299 maaco paint is suprisingly good, i got mine and love it, i went to the one off of euclid and the 405 in fountain valley i think, they do good work, dont know bout the others though

please don't go to maaco
Nin2lude, first you need to read up and then decide weather you want
looks or performance. if you want lsd, don't get phantom grip
get a quafie (worth the money and a lifetime warranty)
you want an engine swap right? check into http://www.hmotorsonline.com
you can get a swap w lsd in it already.

SEARCH and you will find many threads that will help you out. It seems like you have a lot of things in line to do, so make sure you get everything straightened out and in order from most important to least important. In my opinion, I would try to fix everything that is wrong with your car and then make it look clean. Then start purchasing aftermarket parts.

The engine and tranny swap should be first in line. While your at it, get a new clutch like the ACT street/strip for example. Then you can do your exhaust system. Get a header, hi-flow cat, and exhaust. I have a greddy evo and love the tone it makes. A VTEC controller is a great mod, but I think it would be better idea to wait until you get more aftermarket parts on your engine til you purchase it. Since you want to go all-motor, I have a suggestion because I also am going all-motor. I will purchase a VTEC controller when I have done more work to my head, such as cams, cam gears, pulleys, port & polish. Phantom grip .

A4 is from the 5th gen prelude
A1 is from the 4th gen prelude
A is a JDM H22A (no number)

And whoever said the type-s is the best 4th gen must not be aware that there is no such thing as a 4th gen type-s, it didn't come out till 97.

again thanks alot for the info guys.

and since i dont have enough cash for the swap right now, i might be needing a new clutch soon how much would it be to put in a good clutch installed?

is it possable to just fix the syncro? or would i have to totaly re-do the tranny? heard something about new part's fitting into a old tranny = the suck

i have a few friends that might be able to help me do the swap later on to save on money. ie 2 large pizza's and a 24 pack of beer usually works for them.
