Yea, they did make it. I remember a while back someone post about it, but they mentioned that prodrive did not recommend using it for drag racing because it ran a high risk of breaking during a hard launch. I haven't seen or read any feedback of anyone actually owning the product.

I think the user DR on here has a base tranny with this final drive and a quaiffe in his Prelude Type SH ITS race car.

the 4.7 will result in shorter gears
the OEM manual final drive ratio is 4.266

Makes your trannies gearing shorter - like a teg type r.

you can't have a quaife in an SH tranny...

not alot of people have it, but apparently it was made for road racing applications. in the end our gearing is similar to ITR's at 4.4 FD because our individual gears are geared higher if that makes any sense. with a 4.7 FD i can imagine the revs being pretty high at 80 m/h (5000? don't feel like doing the math, sorry).

Yes you can have a Quaife in a Type-SH, it's just quite a bit of work which is being done to DR's car right now. ATTS has been removed along with the tranny and now getting the base tranny and other things to be put in.

You wouldn't say it was castrated if you rode in it. With the new base tranny, Quaife and 4.71 gears it runs even faster lap times than with the old ATTS. I lost about 35 pounds off the nose of the car and I still have the better front suspension design of the Type SH. Another big plus in now that I lost the ATTS I can go with a AEM EMS instead of the stock ECU.

Yes, do a tranny swap and put in a 4.71 so that SOMEONE can post some feedback.

maybe i'll e-mail prodrive this thread as see what they have to say? there are some comments about the FD that i wouldn't mind clearing up with them.

How does the 4.7 final drive compare to the gearing of the si trannies?

Someone should make a production 4.4FD for the Prelude Trannies. I think 4.7 is too aggresive, since a lot of us still do freeway driving.

However, the final drive does not affect the gear spacing.

FYI, the 4.77 final drive changes your gearing about as much as running one tire size too small
