You can definately improve the 60 ft times! Those are kinda bad.
You should be able to put down some 2.2X 60ft times..which will get you in the 14.5 range.

Where are you launching at?
Are you feathering the clutch or dumping it?

try to get that 2.2 60' that'll be good for 14.4's; a tenth of the 60' can = 2/10ths off the ET. You can lower the psi of your tires even more and get your 2.2 60' but u can lose some of your trap speed from having it to low...find what fits how you drive....

i like driving either 24 psi and launching at 4400rpms then get that **** to grip and just go and shift as fast as possible....

and one style i tried was having the tire pressure higher than normal (38-40psi) and drop it at 2000 with 3/4 throttle then gun it...sometimes it works for me.

Because on wednsday night there aren't many roadcourses open to drive on Autocrossing isn't everything.Other things can be fun too.I wouldn't worry about the 60 ft.I found that as mine got better my et was slightly slower.I have gotton 2.20's and ran 14.2's.My best et's and trap speeds have been with mid 2.30's.My best time is in my sig. That was on Dunlop sp8000's with my normal street tire pressure in them.I have ran a dozen or more 14.1's with the same set up.

The strip is fun for people who like to drag their cars.

The track is fun for people who like to drive on a road course.

To each his own.

Or, for those north of the border, Chaque a son gout.

If it has four wheels (or two) you can drag race it. Just because you auto X dosent mean you can tell people what to do, its a car for christ sake. Oh yeah I street race all the time cause I can.

I never told anyone to do anything, I just said: track means road course, if you drag, just put drag or 1/4 miles, don't confuse people. I never said I don't drag race, and I didn't say I autoX. Please don't stupid assumption for christ sake.

When my boy runs his ITR on the weekends he usually drops at around 6000 RPM on stock ITR wheels beefed up with Toyo T1-S rubber and stock clutch. I've seen him spank quite a few hatches and launch as hard as an AWD Talon once. I do not recommend this to anyone else though, as his clutch is already showing signs of pre-mature wear.

Before i get nailed...... NO I DONT ENCOURAGE STREET RACING, YOU SHOULD KEEP IT AT THE TRACK WHERE IT BELONGS, YADDA YADDA YADDA GOOD NIGHT

BTW the R spanked the talon two times in a row

Nice runs for a first time. My first and only time at the track was about like that. I ran a best 14.4, but took a couple of runs to get used to it. Your 60' times are pretty good for a first time out.

Citanest: Give it up. Just because it doesn't have corners doesn't mean that it isn't a track. Any established facility designed with safety in mind where two or more cars get together and pit themselves against each other in a race is a "race track". Watch any show on SpeedVision where there is drag racing and they call it a track. Hell, the dictionary lists a definition for track under the subheading of "sports" as: A course laid out for running or racing . Didn't see any mention of the need for corners.

While I don't drag race myself, I appreciate the difficulty of getting a good launch and a good time. It takes quite a bit of skill.

Personally, I'm just happy he is using his car for some sort of racing activity, instead of just zooming around the streets with it.

Drag racing an ITR is like teaching a cat to do dog tricks (like fetch the newspaper).
Anyone agree??
(It's okay to disagree w/ me, no offence intended.)

I disagree, im not the biggest dragger in the world and i do prefer "road" racing. However, if you were going to say that about ITR's, you could honestly say that about all FF 4cyl cars that try to drag race. Even though there is a turbocharged ITR in here somewhere that will no doubt spank alot of cars that you probably would approve of as drag racers. To me racing (Drag, Road, Auto-X) is all about having fun. I dont care about being the fastest. Thats why i can drag race my ITR (if i had one), to have fun, not to break records.

true! if drag racing wasn't meant for the type R then why did Best Motoring Drag the `96 Type R, in fact, they dragged it several times. They dragged the 98 Type R and the Civic Type R also, wait, then they dragged the '96 ITR against the `98 ITR... GGAAAADDD what were they thinking?? That's just plain wrong! We should write a letter or form a support group for these poor unknowing souls.

BM drag the cars not because they are using it as a basis of which one is a superior car. They were just testing the various criterias of the car. That's why they do semi-Autocross, braking, accleration, winding roads and Tsukuba track. If you time the show, they spend very very little time on the drag test. Instead, after every road race, autox or winding roads, they spend time to review spec sheets and pros and cons about each car's traits.

Besides, BM's drag test is really inconsisitent. The ITR lost to Altezza and MRS with a low 15 or something. They did once a best of 14.7 on an ITR. The only time and result that you can take accout from BM drivers (they are all pro GT, Formula One drivers, not your average drag racers that only wants adrenaline rush) are road race outcome. I remember once BM test cars in Tsukuba, and all three Toyotas came dead last three. Altezza, GT-S and MRS. And I remember the ITR took it all the way, beating a Boxter non-S that came in second.

At the most, acceleration only counts 50% of the total perfomance aspect of a car. If accleration is all that matters, just buy one of those Top Fuel Dragsters that runs 5 seconds 1/4 mile and put it in your garage.
