Check Engine Light Mod
Okay, does anyone else get tired of their CEL just coming on, when all it is is the code two O2 sensor? Well, I'll throw the idea up, and see if anyone is gots the knowledge of what wires what to make this happen.
I think if we could tap into the led that's on the ecu and run it up to the dash to make the CEL in the gauge cluster blink to whatever the correct code is.
I'm not afraid of cuttin up wires, but I just don't have the time to sit down and figure out which wire(s) will make this possible.
Or make it where we just add another light somewhere in the car to let us know what the code is w/out having to pull up our carpet every time.
This could go for all Honda's right? or just the older ones, I'm not sure.
If this is a tech forum deemed topic, please move there, but I figured it would be most looked at in here.
Thanks,
Andy
Put on your thinkin caps fellas, b/c this would be a nice thing to have.

thats a pretty good idea...personally i wouldnt put it on the dash light because it would be annoying when your driving and that light keeps flashing all the time till you fix it...
i would put a little light somewhere like under the radio where its there if you look at it, but still out of sight for being distracitve...

oh yeah add a switch in there somewhere to turn it on or off. b/c I'd hate for it to blink all the time also.
maybe the heads at pgmfi.org would be a little better at doing this.

i wouldnt want a blinking light anywhere around the gauge cluster. annoying. how about just fixing the cel problem so you dont get a cel. there is always a solution.

The purpose was so you know what code your throwing so you don't have to lift your carpet.

that is not the point of the mod...the point is so he doesnt have to crawl under the dash and lift the carpet ever again and he can find out what the problem is while driving or whatever...
if he remebers what each and every code is...

The point of the mod was why not make the CEL light blink the corresponding code right there, so I don't have to pull over, stop the car, get out, lift up carpet, read the blinky thing (led), pop the hood, unplug ecu fuse, sit there for a min or so, put back in, start up car, and drive away.
Or it could be, blinking cel, read cel light, pop hood, reset, then drive away.
It's manily b/c of our finnicky O2 sensors.

No, the only way is what altoid said. There is no wire coming out of the ECU that could make a light blink the code.

You could tape into the old led with a new one, then I would run it into the glove box. Then I would print up the trouble code list and tape it inside the glove box. So you open the glove box, led is right there a long with the trouble codes. I think I might take my old ecu apart and try it first. If anyone does not have the skills or tools to do it I can do it for ya.
lol quit being cheap and just buy a new NGK or NTK O2 sensor.. the reason its throwing the code is because eirther the o2 sensor is going out, or you running one of those crapy bocsh that don't do ****..
