optima is the brand I choose for a couple reasons.

1st is if any of my batteries ever die that are optima they get replaced for free.
next is the sealed battery is a must for my newly relocated setup in the trunk.
finally they look cool.

Optima is what i chose as well. I havent heard of them dying on people, unlike Odyssey's for example which seem to crap themselves regularly

i have never had any problems with DieHard batteries other than changing them for maintenance purposes. Optimas are better quality and more expensive but worth it as well.

Optima are the batteries to go.
They are selaed and if you use a red top it will have more cranking amps then the regular batts.
Not to mention their warranty is pretty darn good.
I've had my red top for 5 yrs now and I have a high powered stereo system constantly asking it for juice.
I used to use other batteries but they leaked and all died.
Optima all the way.
Only Optima for me.

once my stocker's dead, I am going for red top or yellow top.

all my friend jump on the Optima bandwagon.

i have an exide battery, intersate is also good. optima is waste unless you have a high power stereo or something.

also, there are only 3 manufactures of car batteries for the regular stock replacement type. a die hard battery is made by exide i think.

Unfortunately, I bought the Orbital due to "higher" cold cranking amp. Unfortunately, in this weather, I had to disconnect my sub(I also had a 1 farad cap), and I can't listen to music for prolonged time because my car begins to stall below 2000 rpm.

From what I hear, it looks like Optima is the way to go(because of my sub).

BTW, what is the cold crank/crank rating are the Yellow Top and Red Top? What should I be looking for?

Has anyone here who's had to replace/upgrade their alternator due to installation of 500-1000 watt amp? Will I need more than 1 farad cap to supplement my battery?

I have a 6th Gen 02.

Oh yes, Orbital is also made by Exide.

Well I have a 500 watt amp and a 1 farad cap as well, my lights will dim when it hits hard, I am thinking of replacing my battery as well, but what I heard works wonders for the stereo is ground wires, and I have yet to replace my alternator.

i have an exide battery and it started my car in -3 degree temps with no problems. I also never had a problem with the oem batteries either. my battery in my 92 accord was still fine in 99 when i sold it and my orginal battery in my 95 lasted till 01. basically anything over 5yrs on a battery is good regardless of what they say on the top. maybe your exide was sitting in the shelf for awhile.

Well, my dad bought me a new battery for my accord (which ever Honda throws in as stock) because it died. HOWEVER, when i do my custom enclosure in my trunk, I will definitely pick up an Optima for my system.

you wont need a cap if your alternator and battery are healthy, the alt being only in an 02 car should be plenty. Been running about 750-800WRMS for the last year with stock alt and a yellow top and no electrical issues whatsoever. Soon to add another 450-500WRMS to it as well.

Caps are just a bandaid fix, and may stop your lights dimming but thats all

the diehards use to be better many years ago. I'd go optima if your willing to spring the cash.

Sometimes you can find a new used one in racing classifieds for a major city. I see them now and again...try lowballing.

So they come with like a lifetime warranty or something? Or just a really good one.

i doubt it. Espeically since they're advertised as "xlnt for racing use".

I think being the completely sealed type they are able to withstand vibration much better.

Vibration is what kills batteries....I think optima originated as a marine/sea-going type battery that branched into road racing.

my dealer I got my batt from will replace any optima I bought from him free of charge... he tests them in 2 seconds and then gives me a new one if its bad. given I bought most of them pretty recently (yr or so ago).

hot tip: If your looking for a sealed GEL battery (like an optima..? not sure if they're gel), miata's come with them from the factory (trunk mounted even). 3 series E30 bmw also have trunk mounts....I *think* they are gel-batteries from the factory.

Gank one if you come across a recent wreck (crashed).

What's the advantage of Gel batteries?

do optimas come in different models or sizes? or is it just red top or yellow top. I tried their battery selector on thier website but it didn't list any applications for accords.

I've had my OEM battery for 5 years and 135k miles, but the cold weather is really killing it. I need to buy a new one soon.

I'd rather get Hawker Genesis batteries at 11 lb. each than those huge frankenstein Optima batteries. I guess all of you guys praising on Optimas don't care about the added weight and just need the extra juice for your systems, huh?

well the system has added so much weight in the boot, might as well have a little extra under the bonnet to balance it out

Nah i'd rather i just not have to worry about it, weight is a very secondary consideration

Optima is the best battery to buy. If you buy one, go to Costco to do it. There cheaper there then anywhere else for a new one. And Costco always lets you return anything you want.
