Looking for an aftermarket external oil cooler for my R
Suggestions? I think that Cusco makes one. Anyone else know of any other choices I may have. Search came up with limited info.

B&M and GReddy also make them. GReddy's is application specific. Not sure about B&M's. HTH.

Make your own setup. You will pay double the cost if you go with one like Cusco, Greddy or ARC.

Get a Setrab cooler core and Earl's fittings. Setrab makes cooler cores for F1 and CART. HTH...

No it isn't.
I had a rod bearing go at my last track day due to what was most likely an oil overheating problem (it was a hot day). I was running Motul SV synthetic - which is their best race synthetic - and my car was eating it up. Chasing 911 Twin Turbos tends to do that.
Oil is the lifeblood of the motor - and I'm taking all precautions now. Plus the fact that my car is completely modded to the hilt - I need it.

mIKE,
How do you like the Greddy kit? Does the oil filter sandwich adapter have a oil-temp or oil-pressure line in?

why change? isn't the stock r oil cooler enough?

Good addition Sam.
With high compression engines like the Type R, that rev up to the stratosphere, you can never be over-cautious with cooling.
I figure since I am taking so much time and money to build up my engine, I might as well make sure that the radiator is upgraded (Fluidyne) and I have an oil cooler (Setrab / Earl's).

I am not that knowledgeable on cars, but I use majority Best Motoring VCDs as a reference.
On the one of the recent issue of this year, they had an endurance race of Japan sports cars...the usual FD, R34, NSX, WRX..etc and of course the ITR. The rule of the race is that a sensor with warning lights are install on each car, and they are not allow to keep driving hard if the oil pass the temp as the siren comes out. Through out the race, most turbo cars are stable and operate at limit and without surpassing the oil temp requirement. Surprisingly, the NA Hondas, NSX and ITR have continues overheating and at the end, lost the race because of panalties and can't drive hard....etc issues.
At the end the NSX and ITR drivers said "These are great, reliable track cars, the only thing that is required is an oil cooler"
BTW, doesn't Mugen makes one for like $1100?
