Axle Question

I have a 96 R swap in my hatch and the axles went bad.

I bought new one's for a 98 integra vtec - And they don't have that little gear looking thing at the end of the axle like pictured below.

What's that gear looking part for ?

antilock brakes. you will need the new one to have it.
