Rough, low idle.........
ok, i have a 97 lx d16 (auto), i can adjust the idle set screw, which works fine, after the car is warm when in it is gear like at a stop light, the car seems to be shakey, not that bad but just bugs me, no matter how high i turn up the idle set, when in gear it adjusts to lower (shakier) speed, any ideas? I have cleaned the IAC and it seems to be operating fine, is there anything else that controls the idle speed at park or in gear, are they different? Thanks.
When was the last time you adjusted the valves? If it was recently, the valve lash may be too tight. I had the same thing happen to my '97 D16Y8 where at stoplights the battery light would flicker because the engine wanted to stall out.
And at times it would stall out (but luckily fire up again right away). It wasn't a constant problem; some days it would idle alright but other days it would idle VERY low and do as I described above. It turns out my valve lash was too tight. (This started happening right after I had my valves adjusted.) Now everything is good.

no, no bog down, still plenty of power. Same thing here, some days ok, others shitty. It never gets to stalling, just goes from shakey to fine, for the ecu reset did you pull the backup fuse of disconnect the battery? Ill look at the wires also, they are like pretty new also i think, i did them over the summer but ill check for leakage, corosion and tightness. Thanks!
okay just outta curiosity i pulled my plugs finally (caused im retarded and kept trying the wrong size socket) and they look like this, been in for 10K (look normal a little brown, not that much electrode wear, AND a thin ring of black carbon around the rim on the plug, not thick not on the white eletrode just on the metal, pretty baked on also, doenst come off easily, I know alot of carbon anit normal, is this normal with civics? and no carbon from the tailpipe and I still get good gas mileage. Any opinions normal or not? Thanks.
Intake manifold - Use carbon build up cleaner
Throttle body - do the same
Clean air filter
Clean IAVC
Change oil
Replace PCV valve
Index your spark plugs
Fuel injector cleaner
Use higher octane
Fuel filter
Did you just replace cap, or rotor as well?
