burning oil smell still..
hey its me again. i just got back from a test drive in hopes that i wouldn't smell the burning oil again =/. i had the problem of some burning oil smell coming from the engine bay. found out that it was something above the exhaust area dripping down onto it, causing it to burn. today i decided to change the oil sending unit along with new oil and a filter. at first when i started it and waited for it to warm up, there were little drips of oil. after a while it stopped dripping, so i decided to test drive it for a couple of miles. almost 3/4 of the way, i started to smell the dreaded smell again. im hoping its just the old oil burning from the exhaust..if not i dont know what else i can do. theres only one thing that i suspect, and thats the gasket or whatever is between where the oil sending unit connects to. anybody else have any suggestions? thanks.
thats a good idea too, im pretty sure its coming from the exhaust though, i see the smoke come right from the top of the manifold. ah this problem is frustrating.
I dont think that oil would drip from the pcv valve. It could very possibily be the oil cooler oring that is between the oil filter mount and the block. The part is about two dollars. If you can, see if you can get your car on a lift and start it up and see if the oil comes from the oil filter area. If it does than it is the oil cooler oring. That is the exact part name from honda. Not hard to replace. Local shop could do it for cheap. That oring went out on mine. If that is the case with your car. DO NOT drive it anywhere except to the shop that is going to fix, or fix it yourself. I thought at first it was my oil sending unit. But at a closer look i could see the oil coming from the block by the oil filter, bingo, oil cooler oring. Hope this helps!

Check your header to see if oil is dripping on it.
