Default 93 D16z6, first the starter now what?

ok a few months back my starter was about to die, till it did and car would not even turn over no more,... so I took it to auto zone to make sure, and yes it's dead, so I bought another starter from a member on here in working condition.

I installed it and the engine turned over once and then it would just click so I took it to auto zone and found out it's a good starter so what could the problem be ?

they told me to check the battery but it's about 2 moths old though ?

Yep check your battery maybe charge it and then make sure it's holding the charge.

try giving your starter a tap with a hammer as someone trys to start it....it could be a loose connection somewhere......maybe a ground on the starter itself!!!

it might be the ignition coil. do you get any spark? if you know anyone with a 5th gen civic or 3rd gen integra the igniton coil is the same part, maybe you could borrow one to find out.

most likely you have a dead or low battery. the 'clicking' is the dead giveaway. as others have said, check your connections too. if it is a battery problem, better check the alternator to see if it is charging correctly.

I totally agree with this statement. best bet is to check the battery and the alternator for proper charging.

I tried jump starting it yesterday and nothing, it would crank over one or 2 times... all the connections are good,

the thing is though, after the starter died at a friends house we push start it and I got it home turned it off and tried to turn it back on and it would not even turn over... so now with a good starter what else could it be ?

some one mentioned the ignition coil, I'll check that out... but doesn't the starter provide enough power to keep turning the engine over? or is it the ignition's job to make the spark and keep the engine turning over...??

Try to jump it again but leave the jumpers on for a minute or so then try it again.
hope this helps.

it sounds like ur alternator is bad...try checking ur fuses...the clicking does say that ur battery is dead even though its still new...ur alternator isnt charging it...either its bad or u have a loose connection somewhere...also, do u have a sound system with amplifiers in ur car?...u may have a wire grounding somewhere, dicharging ur battery.

sounds like a dead short in your alternator, possibly in the windings. Forget auto zone and take it to a real "auto electrical" shop. I did this crap for 10 years and I used to get people in all the time saying "..well trak auto said it was this.." 99.9% of the time those people aren't even ASE qualified in basic tools.

Your brand new battery, forget about it, its toast. The constant cranking and the jumpstart is kinda like shooting a horse with a broken leg. The reason why the jump cables were warm to the touch is because you were trying to push in more amps than what the clamps were designed to handle. Next time, don't rev the motor, it's pointless and harmful.

A good normal battery for a civic WILL jump start a 1/2 ton pickup, even if its on its last leg. Since you need a new battery I always suggest interstate. I sold them for 10 years and my father has been selling them for over 20 and we've never had a problem.

cold weather, bad starter - will wear out your battery fast - since your battery is only two months old - take it back and get a new one.

check your alternator as well - and also check all of your engine/chassis grounds.
