Is that noise the exhaust or VTEC?

Is that noise the exhaust or VTEC?
I'm new at this.. Just got a 94 GSR with about 60xxx miles on it.. I installed an exhaust not too long ago and I was wondering.. From a stopped start, the exhaust has a deep tone to it. But, when it hits the VTEC cross over point, it sort of turns into a high pitch sound. And I was wondering if that was just how the exhaust works, or if it was the fact that VTEC has been engaged..

welcome to the land of vtec....................... it s great when your racing someone and then all the sudden you hear the vtec roar and your oustie . i dont know how it is on a gsr , but on my r it is the most beatiful sound
