Default Does changing exhaust effect vtec?

Hey, I just swapped a full Tanabe Racing Medallion exhaust for a full Apexi WS2. I just got back from testing it out and found that the vtec changeover wasn't even really noticable. The Tanabe was way too loud for a DD, but the vtec would kick hard @ 5800 rpm. The Apexi's great for a DD, but so far, I don't even notice the vtec changeover.

Will an exhaust have that much of an effect on vtec, or should I be concerned about something else?

PS, I have an LS/V with a B18A1 bottom, B16B top, and a GSR trans.

ws is quiet, so it sounded hard maybe because it is way louder w/ the previous exhaust

since exhaust definitely doesn't affect when vtec kicks in

Maybe I should clarify, I know the actual changeover point will not change. I'm wondering if I will notice a difference in power when it does change. With my Tanabe, it was like someone flipped a switch, vtec was that noticable in sound and power.

The WS is very linear, with no noticable difference in power or sound when vtec kicks in.

if it isn't a placebo effect then it is the pipes and the amount of flow and backpressure that the 2 have

Since you upgrade your catback system. There is less back pressure and more exhaust flow pushing out thus the more horsepower. Having an exhaust would mellow out any other noise you had before. It's like saying if you were to put in a sound system it would do the exact same thing.
