I figure b18 more displacement...wait are we talking about a b18a, B18b, b18c1, b18c5? Both are good. I'm putting a b18c1 with some headwork into my crx hopefully soon (got to finish gf damn 5.0 stang first...) well what are you plans for the car? Let us know more so someone can give you a better opinion.

IMO.....B18c5/B16b > B18c1 > B16a > B18a or B18b

B18c5 and B16b ownz all others.........cant go wrong with either.

B16B or B18c1... The B18c1 has a better foundation to build on then the c5 the b16a is cheaper and easier to install then the b16b but the b16b is well worth the money
how bout a k20 head and a k24 block in a 88-91 crx

Why's that????? Same block and c5 has better head and internals.

All B-series pretty much have the same degree of difficulty in installation.

The b18c5 really shouldnt be turbo charged because of its high compression ratio. That's why the b18c1 has a better foundation because of the lower compression and ability to turbo charge.

What are your goals? I mean do you want a good auto x car or just an all out drag motor? What is your budget? B18C5s are great canidates to boost. You just have to know how to tune them and with low boost they have been known to put out very impressive #s. Heat makes power, and compression makes heat.

just my 0.02 cents

get a mind and decide for yourself, and if you don't know enough about the two motors, then you shouldn't be at the point of being ready for a swap. Research the hell out of the two motors, find out the pros and cons of both of them, and make your choice solely on what you're looking for. Don't ask us what you should pick though; we don't drive your ride every day, bro.

I would say b18c1/5 depending on your budget because I have a b16 in my '90 crx and wish I would've waited for the b18c1/5.

Call my crazy, but that kind of logic is nutso.......To call a block that is balanced w/better pistons, and has head work inferior to another motor b/c of compression is just silly......AND although i agree its kinda against the grain to turbo an ITR motor, they do actually produce a lot power when boosted. High compression and decently tuned turbo set-up = LOTS OF POWER.

From a beginner's standpoint the c5 IS a better platform to start from.

Ok 95Hatch. How much money do you have and what kind of work on a motor are you capable of?

The b16b is a great motor. The b16b, unlike the b16a, is a destroked b18c5 motor. So you could just buy the b16b and swap out the crankshaft with a b18c5 crank and you now have a cheaper b18c5. Although you have to justify the costs when you get into replacing seals, gaskets, bearins and fluids.

b16's have a r/s ratio that allows them to rev high and last very long doing so. The only weakness in the b16 (other than lack of displacement) is the head. Much power can be found in a b16 head.

I'd say some good input, but if Mr.95Hatch won't speak up and tell us more about his goals...then no engines gonna be best for him.

I'd say a b18c5 would be his last choice if he wanted to say under $3000...see where I'm coming from? Someone call him up and tell him he has some replies

Ever seen a properly tuned TC c5 throw down some power?

If you dont know what you are doing then you can get detonation on any motor....I dont care if you drop your compression to 9.0:1, if you boost too much you will get detonation. Detonation is everybody's enemy....NA or boosted.
