D16A6 swap...but only 3 mounts...can i do this?
i'm putting back a d16a6 into my hf crx that previously had a b series swap and they cut the front mount in order for the header to fit properly so i was just wondering if its ok to use 3 mounts(2 motor and 1 rear)??? or does the d16 need all 4? ok thanks for the help guys...
well if the B was working with 3, a d will work, it has less torque and weighs slightly less, so it should work.
Not that its too smart to run on only 3 mounts tho.
Are you sure they cut out the front mount? They may have just removed the mount, as there is a holder where the mount bolts in, if you still have the holder, you can just isntall another mount.

Yes, the motor will be fine with only three mounts. Just don't power shift or make any sharp throttle transitions.
EDIT: You may want to install the Energy Suspension inserts in the rear mount to keep it from beaking if you plan on driving the car hard.

Go to the junk yard and get a front crossmember. B series mounts can get away with three mounts because they use a much harder bushing that is meant to take the beating. The stock mounts are made out of rubber and they will not last.
You will be taking a chance that is not worth taking.
