I have a jdm p30 ecu, its the square kind that is smaller than conventional honda ecus youve all seen. well i was reading on the hondata site, and in the column for "knock" there wasnt a Y, so im thinking if this is the same ecu that doesnt monitor knock. does anyone have any idea? i wanna throw this thing in my car so i can get it properly smogged... my knock sensor is damaged and i dont know if i am getting the one i just bought soon enough to get the car smogged... heres the hondata site:

im not sure if mine is the asia/euro, or in fact the "jdm" one. im hoping its the p30-g and not the p30-o, but i have a feeling its the p30-o. so if u can help, id appreciate it. thanks guys!

best way to tell is throw it in your car and see if it throws a knock sensor code!
as far as i know,it does have the KS circuit.i've done a couple JDM B16 swaps that included the small P30 ECU,and the motor had a knock sensor in it-can't imagine why they'd put one on there if it isn't needed.i added the KS wiring,assuming it was needed,so i can't positively confirm that it would or wouldn't throw a code without the KS hooked up.

euro spec and australian ecus with the following numerations P30-GXX or P30-QXX
are the only ones without a knock sensor. JDM ecus (small case) and USDM P30 do look for knock sensor.

JDM ecus are usually P30-0XX or P30-JXX or P30-NXX while USDM P30-AXX and so on.

XX=variation numbering and does only distinguish the auto and 5spd nothing else.

my suggestion is to either have the ecu chipped with stock program that disables the knock (such as the euro program) or simply get another knock sensor (one from 96+ EX or Si works just fine)
