Out of the blue I started having a problem with my car. Usually, when something is wrong, I figure it out and fix it but, this has me stumped.

The car is a totally stock 91 CRX Si.

Here's the problem...

When I am on the highway at speeds higher than 65 MPH, I sometimes get a strange vibration. It feels almost like a misfire but, the car still seems to go and have pick up.

When the problem is occuring if I drop it in neutral and rev, it doesn't seem to happen anymore. Or maybe I just can't notice it.

It's definately NOT the brakes and it only happens at higher speeds.

I have no check engine lights. I just changed the plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, oil and gutted my cat thinking maybe it was clogged

Could it be an igniter? I'm not blowing any smoke so I don't think it's a head gasket. The engine only has 70K on it and otherwise goes nice. This just started happening yesterday...

Any ideas as to what it might be?

BTW: I only get this problem when hitting the gas. If I let off the gas, it goes away...

I have the same problem. Started happening after I changed my distributer. I think I need to adjust my timing is all.

 

What kind of gas are you using (octane rating)?

 

93 Octane
