If you're running street tires try 4500 rpm and feather that clutch out. It takes a lot of practice to get it right.

On slicks I come off at 7000 rpm, its pretty cool .

7900 RPM
That's not even funny, he asked a legit question and wants an informative answer. I'll let you in on my little secret that I've perfected over the past few years. The most effective way to launch is definitely at 8050. I don't know who told you that 7900 is optimal, but at or above redline is the best...TRY IT! (Sometimes I use the rev-limiter to be safe)

Technically, you should launch right under your peak torque, whatever that might be. Then you slip the clutch quickly. This is hard to do, because most of the time, you'll bog, stall, or spin too much. Practice makes perfect.

That is the correct way to do it.....however, since people love their clutch and don't like replacing it every month.....you can try the same at a lower rpm. However, the power won't be as much. If I'm just fooling around with someone on the street, I'll just do a simple launch at about 2000, slip the clutch quickly, and most of the time I'll win. If I'm at the track, or against someone on the street that's real good, then I'll do what I said above.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE CRAZY ASSES TELLING YOU TOO LAUNCH AT 7000 + RPMS. YOU WILL **** YOUR CLUTCH RIGHT THEN AND THERE IF ITS STOCK . SOMEONE TOLD ME TO LAUNCH MINE AT 8000 ON MY SLICKS, I WA SLIKE HELL NO. WELL I DID AT 6500 AND SMOKED MY CLUTCH .I JUST REPLACED IT THIS WEEKEND AND MY PRESSURE PLATE WAS SHOT, MY DISC WAS SHOT , AND MY FLYWHEELL NEEDED BIG TIME RESURFACING. ID SAY ON STREET TIRES LIKE 4000 MAYBE, ANYTHING OVER WILL SPIN YOUR TIMRE PROB. AND ON SLICKS PROB LIKE 5000 OR SO WITH A STOCK CLUTCH .
IF YOU GOT AN AFTERMARKET CLUTCH THEN YOU CAN DUMP IT HIGH AND IT WILL TAKE IT , JUST WATCH YOU AXLES.

First off take your damn caps off. If you smoked your STOCK clutch launching at high rpms then that's your own damn fault.

There is nothing wrong with slipping out the clutch at 4500 and feathering it out. Of course that wears it out but it shouldn't do it the first time you try it. I'm sure you beat on your car pretty regularly for it to go out, especially if your flywheel's surface was that bad.

In my case I said I drop it at 7000. My car is a whole hell of al ot more modded up plus I have the clutch to take the abuse. Have common sense and calm down kid.

im saying i dont want this kid to com eback blaming everyone on the board for blowing his clutch . and i did mine at like 6500or 7000 not 4500. but yes eventually it got worse from continuous drag racing on it . but that 1st time prob glazed it enough to never have it be the same again. but dont tell someone thats asking how to launch to drop it at 7000.............by the way now i can drop it like that , i got a heavy duty clutch now , because the othere one was rocked

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT ON MY ***!! I consider it more of sexy than crazy, but whatever floats your boat. By the way, </--that usually means that we are joking, so don't take it to the heart. Just having fun!
