Default Aw, crap. PS pump leaking.

I've noticed a hint of PS noise occasionally in the last couple of weeks. Come to find out the stupid thing is leaking.

For now, I'm just going to add fluid as needed, but eventually I'll have to do something about it. Not sure if I'll just remove the system and loop it or if I'll attempt to rebuild the pump.

Has anyone here rebuilt an Integra PS pump? Is there a kit available, or will I be stuck having to buy an entire rebuilt unit?

The leak is pretty small, so my temporary fix will be simply adding fluid as needed. I'm a bit leary of the Lucas stuff because if I end up rebuilding the pump I don't want something in there gumming up the works. The Lucas stuff probably is an agent that causes rubber seals to swell, which might make my job more difficult.

JUN.R is also selling his power steering equipment, and I'll be selling mine here in a few weeks.

Thanks. That's a great offer, but I won't be able to take advantage of it. Chances are I won't mess with it until summer.

Oh, and this is a real pisser, my apartment complex prohibits tennants from working on their vehicles on the premises.

usually if you know of any shops in town and are in good terms with them, they probably won't mind you working on your car in one of thier bays if it's something that's not going to take up a ton of time or something

How often do you guys have to add PS fluid!?!... Does it need to be checked on a regular basis?

All fluids should be checked at least as frequently as you change the oil.

Until now, I haven't had to add PS fluid, but it's always a good idea to keep an eye on fluid levels.

its a sealed system, so never has to be filled unless your leaking, so I think I am trying to say its not a maintenance item.

It is not a sealed system. You can check the fluid level by looking through the body of the reservior, which is marked for minimum and maximum levels. Fluid can be added by removing the red cap on top of the reservior.
