Need help Now! for those of you who have installed cam gears?HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I just installed my cam gears and when I try to adjust them the car will not idle and it cuts off. Here is a list of my current mods. 5Zigen exhaust, DC 4-1, AEM, Skunk2 cam gears. I tried to adjust the exhaust to -3 and the intake to +4. I have tried other settings and it still doesn't idle properly. My dad owns his own mechanics business and he did the work. We lined everything up at TDC on the cams and on crank. I also tried resetting the computer and that didn't work. The rpms drop really fast when coming to a stop. I have also adjusted the timing to approx 18 degrees. Has anyone else had this problem if so WHAT DO I DO.
What kind of cam gears? On the JUN cam gears 1 white degree mark on the cam gear is equal to 2 degrees at the crank (or is it the other way around) So you might actually be advanced +8 degrees my friend
set them back to stock and see if that fixs the problem. If it does then set the cam gear to te second white line, that should count as + or - 4 depending on which way you turn them.
Are you sure that each line represents + or - 2 degrees. I was under the impression that each line represents 1 degree. Is there somewhere on the internet that will clarify this?
does not sound liek a proper install.
I mean are the different settigns you are trying creating this problem?
or has it been acting whacko since the install?

set everything to zero and timing to 16 degree's.
On the aem's the timing marks represented 2 degree's. You really shouldn't adjust the timing gears without a dyno and fuel monitoring. you can really hurt your motor.
I bet that each mark represents 2 degrees.
