wastegate failure?
OK, so long story short I take it to honda this afternoon and they say that the puttering is not engine related, so we assumed it was exhaust related. We lifted up the car and when at idle, we gased it, and the wastegate dumptube seemed completely open. Come to think of it, I haven't even been able to hit full boost, so I'm thinking that the wastegate must either have a leak or must be stuck at the open position, even though I have a 7 psi spring in there, I only get to about .15 bar at 6k rpm i believe. So, I'm gonna rip open the wastegate and see if there's anything noticeably wrong, otherwise wastegates rarely fail correct? I mean, they are very simple systems.
So i take off my dumptube from my tial 35mm wastegate and see that the wastegate is fully closed, however, gas is still passing through it at idle, and i believe that this leak is the main source of my car not reaching full boost and the puttering. Wastegates are supposed to be completely cut off in the closed position correct?
would a fire ring fix the problem?
