Clutch problems...need advice.
My car has been giving me a problem going back into gear (any gear) after taking it out of gear and taking my foot off the clutch. The acura mechanic that works on my car (on the side, things like valve adj for cheaper) has said I need a new clutch. He indicated the springs are weak and not seperating the clutch fully. He asked the service manager at acura if they would cover it and he said probably not since it has 30k on the odo. I have two questions.
1. Would you fight with acura to replace the clutch under warranty. (only two autocrosses, two drag days and it still grabs pretty well, slips a little at high rpms).
2. Would you replace with stock or performance clutch. I have no mods, and do not plan at this time to ever mod the car other than i/h/e possibly. (Considering selling it right now)
Thanks josh

sounds like another release bearing sticking to the input shaft..... i'm still putting off pulling my tranny to grease up that bearing and re-install.

That is what the service manager told my acura mechanic. My car is well under warranty. It is a 2k with only 30k on the odo. I bought it 12/99. Clutches are normally touchy areas from what I have been told. If they pull the clutch and it is worn out, then it is my problem and cost 650 or so. If they pull it and the material is still good they are saying it would be hard to get acura to cover it so still my problem and 650 minus the clutch IF they cover it which it is around 350.00. I have not gone directly to acura, since I need my car during the week and my mechanic does all my work on Sat.
Hope that clears up my language above. I have never taken my car to acura for anything. It is too damn expensive. I do all the easy mainteance and have the acura mechanic do all the rest on the side.

dude don't sweat it, i know for a fact it will be covered under warranty unless you have some drastic modifications done,
the only way you would have to pay ANYTHING is if they pulled the tranny, and decided that the clutch has been abused, if not and some mechanical failure was the cause, you'll have yourself a new clutch free of charge.
about a new clutch, if they take it apart and decide its under warranty, buy a aftermarket clutch from them and have them put it on, instead of a stock one

i'm haveing a release bearing problem too.... my tech says it's a dry bearing causing the noise. acura is replacing my clutch under warranty.
My acura service rep called today and told me the clutch is not going to be covered under warranty. $950 to install a new clutch. I told them to not do anything. He indicated the district rep has already confirmed my clutch is not going to be covered.
The district rep concluded this a few weeks ago before I ever left the car with Acura. I called my Acura mechanic and talked with him about the problem a few weeks ago. He indicated he would feel them out(acura). In doing so the rep indicated it would not be covered. My mechanic did not drive my car until yesterday/today when I left it with acura.
I filed a report with Acura Client Services after my call with service rep. ACS indicated it would be two-three days before I would hear from them. Not all acura dealers are created equal.
Any advice?

-who hopes he does not have to take his car in for service....
There response:
"It is a wear item and with 32k on the odo we are not going to cover it. Maybe if it was near 15k we might be able to write it under warranty."

my rep told me that "acura will replace the first clutch with no questions asked". I would push the issue a little more and make them replace it.
