what would be the cause of this? at first, the car started fine and ran kind of rough and the new alternator belt was squeeking. so i adjusted the tension, it still squeeked and after some readjustments it the car won't turn over.
i tried to readjust the alternator with no luck. would this be due to the timing? need help

Well, if you have already snapped one belt, and you are still having problems with it, then it sound like your alternator is locked up. If the motor won't even turn over, then try charging your battery, tkae the alternator belt off, and see if it will start that way.
