B16 idled funny, now can't idle at all
My friends b16 with ITR intake manifold and bolt-ons was acting funny last night and now can't start.... As we got off the freeway, the idle wouldn't drop below 1800, but the car ran the same. We then parked and turned the car off, then started it again and the idle remianed around 1800. We thought it was just the TB not closing all the way, but as we started it 2 hours later, the motor sounded like it was on 2 cylinders and was huffing and puffing and wouldn't idle unless I put gas on it. He checked the wires and they were all in... I don't know what to tell him. The motor has never done this b4???? Any ideas??
I don't believe there is an IACV on the ITR manifold either under the TB, just that piece on the back with the coolant hose going to it. But still that wouldn't explain the higher fuel pressure and rough sound...

Why do you think the fuel pressure is higher?
Anyway, I would suspect you developed a pretty good vacuum leak. Either a hose broke/fell off or a gasket failed.

Yeah that's what we think... we got the car running... the plugs were fouled rich and the pistons were wet with fuel as well so we figured if we just revved it high, we could burn out the excess fuel in the cylinders which happened and the motor ran smoothly, but continued to idle high, so we are checking the vacuums, TB plate etc...
