Yes, you need the torque mounts otherwise the motor will rock when you shift hard and your valve cover could hit your hood.

It can and it does.....getting mine in a few days. Torque mounts are very important for launching.

good torque mounts keep your motor from moving around, gives you a lot more traction on a launch *read: wheel hop.

jimfab and haasport make great mounts

energy suspension makes inserts but whether or not they'll work for the kit that you used to put the b16 in your EK I dont know.

I would definitly get torque mounts while you are putting the motor in, it will save you a headache later on, cause you will have traction issues once you start building the motor...

if i remember correctly,Katman broke the driver side upper mount off a motor once from not using the lower front torque mounts...
i have the aftermarket inserts(can't remember which brand)in mine and it works well.

I took out my drivers side lower torque mount when I was removing my ac because I thought it wasn't needed and my valve cover put a dent in my hood

my passenger side torque mount is shot. i've been neglecting it for a little bit now, and my upper mount is wearing a good bit too. those forces have to go somewhere.

yeah, both side are definately needed.the upper driver and passenger mounts basically just hold the motor and provide a rotation point when the motor torques-they don't do anything to actually control the twist...the lower mounts and rear mount control how much it actually moves.i also found out the hard way when i had the top bolt out of the rear mount(figured it'd be okat until i got a new one) on my car, thinking the front mounts would keep the motor from moving around too much.the first time i shifted hard to 2nd gear, the two lower bolts in the rear mount ripped out of the tranny, taking with them a chunk of the case including where the shift linkage attaches.a new rear mount, new tranny case and new shift linkage later i realized it's PROBABLY a good idea to use ALL the mounts and ALL the bolts.

yea man I shifted really hard into second with that mount off and it felt like my engine completely jumped and my shift felt so sloppy. I was like wtf is wrong with my car?! Thats when I saw that my hood had a small dent going outwards where a part of the valve cover had hit it...pisses me off man. I thought that the mount was just used to help support the ac compressor which I removed.

to be honest with you-i'm not sure.i have the kit that includes inserts for the front lower torque mounts, and the rear chassis mount.been so long since i got them i can't remember if they're Prothane or ES.they do transmit quite a bit of vibration, but nothing you can't tolerate.motor is rock solid though.
