Crazy question about motor (torque) mounts on EK
So everyone knows that the lower right torque mount is somewhat beefy, yet the lower left torque mount sucks rectum. Exhibit A:
But the two appear to have the same dimensions... so can you just buy two of the beefy ones and put one on each side? Anyone tried this?

Looks to me like the one on the right places the metal sleeve farther to the right than the one on the left?
I would just get some inserts. My one friend replaced his mounts last year and already he has a lot of "slop" in the drivetrain.
I filled my mounts two years ago, and already have had the slop come back in mine. I just bought some black poly inserts to permanently "fix" this issue. I had inserts in my last Honda and I loved them. Yes, there was some extra vibration, but the smoother acceleration and reduced wheel-hop was well worth it I thought.

yea if you have stock mounts in a ek you better keep the torque mounts
since the ek drive side mount sucks just replace wit with a hasport, avid or innovative one and the motor is nice and solid

Re: Crazy question about motor (torque) mounts on EK
Interesting idea...
Only thing I could think of, is one of the accessory belts goes around this mount. I think it's the A/C belt? I can't remember off hand. If you don't have that belt anymore, I don't see a problem, but if you do, replacing it will be a pain -- you can flex the wimpy mount enough to get the belt between the mount and the car frame, but I doubt you could flex the beefy mount so you'd have to take it completely off the bracket to get the belt around it.
Just my 2 cents.

I don't know what half of you are talking about, but I'm going to try it and I'll post back with the results. Just by holding the two mounts up to each other, they appear to have an identical orientation and bolt pattern, so I think it will work. I'm just trying to find a happy medium between my Jimfab torque mount (too rigid) and the OEM mount.
