alright this is the question should i buy a 91 si sohc motor and tranny and build it up for turbo or buy a newer model d series and build it up for turbo? and is there a list of thing that someone could tell me to get in order to build it up like what pistons etc etc.... and last but not least if i get a later model d series motor with vtec can i run the turbo and vtec or do i have to get a vtec killer and if i have to get a vtec killer why not just get the si motor thanks for any help...
I dont know what to telly you about the engines. IF you plan on building it for boost, I would personally get the cheapest d series you can find. As far as VTEC...you can boost and have VTEC. Why would you think you couldnt??
I'm not too experienced with those options myself. I always had the idea of a B-series swap, then a turbo. But around here, quite a few folk have a d-series turbo's and apparently have lots of fun with them. Its not huge power, but fun power.
You can have v-tec and a turbo. I'd take the dohc over the sohc anyday.
Eagle makes some good engine components (rods, pistons..etc...)

GO D series vtec.
Get Eagle Rods
CP Pistons or others that are good too.
Golden Eagle or AEBS Sleeves
Get dual valvesprings/retainers maybe a cam
I would go this route if I could do it again, I went dohc vtec/ turbo. I could have made just the same power I have now with D series and spent way less.
One major factor to consider, when you break parts D parts are much cheaper and easier to find than B parts.

That was my deciding factor. I wanted to go H22 with turbo later but the initial cost for the motor swayed me plus the fact that my d16 only has 54K on it AND the fact that another d16 can be had for HELLA cheap. Especially since I wouldnt need a full swap, just a long block. I would hate to blow a H22 bottom end and have to pay gobs of money just to get back on the road.
