getting code 1 and 7 only while driving
i was getting a code 7 before cuz i never set my TPS when i put it back on. but i swapped my other CRX's throttle body w/ TPS, and im still getting the code. the TPS was fine on my other CRX, and i didnt touch the TPS or anything.
funny thing is, the code doesn't come on when i start the car. after driving for a while, i get codes 1 and 7. and it happens at different times, sometimes after 5 min or 10 min of driving.
weird...whats code 1?

no it wont take care of the code 7...
you might have a short in the wiring for it to be coming on...check out the online helms manual for the step by step on how to solve it...

i tried resetting the ECU, the code did not go away.

i think if it was a 17 it would blink 17 consecutive times. plus my VSS is fine.
thanks

I have the same exact problem, but with my B16, its gettin me mad cause i replaced 1 of my 2 O2 sensors and replaced my tps, and neither code went away, I even did reset my ECU. whats the deal
yes i threw code 16 like 20 some times when i melted injectors left and right on my dx hatch (DPFI) with the 50 shot stored codes are comon if all else fails buy a new ecu! or try to get it fixed.
good luck

No, you would get one long light and seven short blinks. Is your speedo erratic at all?

so r u sayin the ECU is the problem? i think buying a new ECU is not an option - too expensive! i can live with the CEL on, til i get my swap.
once i get some money, ill replace the o2 sensor and reset the ECU again. ill keep everyone updated.
thanks

Well I think its kinda obvious that your tripping a code 1 BECAUSE of a code 7. If your computer cant read your throttle angle sensor it doesnt know how much air is coming in. Not knowing this it can either stay in open loop leading to you dumping alot of fuel, tripping the 02 light, or going back to long term fuel trim consistency which will allow your short term fuel trim to adjust to the conditions your ecu is seeing.
Alls the computer watches for once your in closed loop as far as the 02 is concerned is to make sure it keeps switching to keep a good a/f ratio going, if it doesnt know how much air is coming in, and then the 02 see's a ton of air(lean condition) it will trip the light and short term fuel trim will jack up to resolve the lean condition.
I think to fix your problem you need to start at the TPS, if you have to replace it again, look at all your wiring, just look everything over.......id also replace your 02 sensor and have a unplugging the battery doesnt always kill your KAM(keep alive memory) atleast it should but ive seen codes come back from the dead a million times after you've fixed the problem. And it sux cause you cant put our cars on a scanner to see what the hell is going on being its obd0.

actually, i didnt think it was that obvious, cuz this code 1 only happened after i swapped throttle bodies. before, when i had my old TB on, i had ONLY a code 7 - but this was because i took the TPS out and didnt set it when i put it back on. but after i put a TB on with a KNOWN calibrated TPS, i got a code 1 and 7. so i dont think im tripping a code 1 cuz of a code 7 - i mean, it wouldve happened before as well.

Well not to sound like an ***, but you should have mentioned that before.
I was throwing out an idea, and FYI alot of times it takes two consecutive drive cycles of the car heating up and driving then shutting down and let sit for almost a half an hour to throw a hard code such as the code 1 your getting?
How often did you drive it before you replaced the TB, and how much after you replaced it?
The 02 will deal with alot of **** but eventually it cant handle the lean conditions and will drop out throwing a hard code.

I had the same problem with my TPS throwing a code 7 and it still throws the code even though i had it calibarted (sp) and had it dead on. The code 7 only started after i had my cams and gears installed on my zc. I have rest the ecu lots of times, tried 3 TP sensors and have tried like 4 different ecus and it still throws the code 7. Also the wiring is fine and the code 7 is the only code it is throwing and it really pisses me off cause i can not find out what is wrong. It was not throwing a code 7 before i put the cams in and i didn't mess with the wiring

well sorry i didnt mention it before. it sounded like u knew what you talkin about though. i drove it everyday before i replaced the TB, then i stopped driving it for almost 2 months. then i replaced it, and started driving it again, about every other day.
