What manufactures are reliable? What's an average APR to finance?

Hi,
What manufactures are reliable? I know the spill with cars, but not to familiar with bikes. Guessing I would say: Honda and Suzuki would be reliable. What about Kawasaki? I'm looking to purchase a new 250 Cruiser type bike ($3,000) just before the summer. I'm not sure what manufacture to go with at this time. If the bikes are like the cars then I'll most likely go with a Honda.
Also, what are the typical APR's on new bikes? I know Honda runs the 3.9% / 5.9% / 7.9% on the cars periodically but never hear anything about the bikes. What is a typical APR and what is usually the length of the loan (60months)??
How slow would a 250 be? I don't need anything that goes fast or quick, but I don't want to have to give it ALL throttle just to keep up in traffic from a red light.
The bike will be used to:
1) Commute back and forth to gym (all residential roads with a 1 mile straight away at 40mph)
2) Cruise around town when it's too nice of a day to take the Hybrid

I'm going to stop by the Honda bike shop tommorrow and check them out in person. If the APR's are low enough I may jump on one soon. I'm picking up a Honda 75 CB200T this week for $400. I've had the money, just waiting on my buddy with the truck to have the same day off with me.

When compared to cars, bikes are not as reliable, but if you ride them correctly, meaning not abusing them, and maintain them on time, u will be fine. Also, the apr on bikes are higher, they are not 3.9 or even 7.9, probably around the 10 to 15 on avarage. A rebel will do you fine if you just want to ride up to 40 mph and one mile at a time, but if you are going to the gym, why not just run there??

The bike would be pampered just like the Hybrid as far as maintenance. Would also be ridden softly unlike the Hybrid which is abused most of the time

A little too far. Plus I go before work so I would have to get up super early.... Oh, and looking forward to cruise on a bike when those beautiful summer days arrive

when i was serching this same question (i was looking more at sportbike though) i was told
"as long as you maintain them properly, and ride then easy, they will alst forever"
not sure how ture it is though.
i bought a honda just to be safe.
my interest rate was 4.5%. i guess i have decent credit though.

Heh believe me, I have a 75 CB200T and once you ride this bike for a month or so you will realize that you don't want to buy something else slow....
It's annoying cause i'm at 8k doing 55mph in 5th gear...
Ok and I forgot to add, don't come back here the day or even the week you get the motorcycle and tell me how wrong I am and how fast it "feels" like you're going because that wears off very quickly...

I went by the local Honda / Yamaha dealer today and talked with a guy for a few. Honda's APR is 6.9% (has been for the past 8 months according to the guy) up to 60 months.
I sat on both the Rebel and the Shadow VLX Deluxe. As far as height they both seemed equal. I felt as if I had just the right amount of bend in my knees to keep control of the bike. As far as weight dauuuuuum the VLX was much heavier. I actually liked the Rebel better because it was lighter and felt as if I would have more control. The salesman tried to persuade me towards the VLX. He told me, "You'll be kicking yourself in a week for not buying the VLX if you buy the Rebel". Must not be much profit on the Rebel.
I'm going to ride my CB200T when I get it for a while then go from there as said before. But, must say I think a new bike is in my future I'll probably end up with the VLX since it's about twice EVERYTHING and only 2 grand more. Looks more like a "cruiser" than the rebel which probably screams "newb"

I'll have to agree and disagree with you. Reliability can only be judged by how the vehicle/motorcycle is maintained. Reliability is often time confused with quality. That's why motor vehicles, whether it be motorcycles or cars, have warranty. If a vehicle/motorcycle fails due to a manufacturing defect or irregularity, then it is a quality issue and not a reliability issue.

Heh. Try taking the VTX1800 off the kickstand.
The Rebel would be reliable, and over 50mpg is nice.

He is right, the rebel is a "girls bike". It is what all the other cruiser guys buy thier other half for them to learn on. My father has a 2000 Shadow VLX 600, the bike is great and not to heavy (450). I would get the VLX honestly. Or you can even move up to the Honda Magna V-4 750
. Good luck man
