Looking for my first Honda motorcycle and recommendations to go with
So now that the summer season is well upon us I am itching to get another motorcycle. My last ride was a ninja 500 and while that was a fun and nimble bike, I'm looking for a different type of ride this go around, and I'd like it to have a tank with wings!
I have maybe 2-3 grand to spend, so it's going to be a used (possibly WELL used) bike. I'm not wealthy but have some extra spending money for the summer and would love a bike to commute/ride around on, hit a few canyons, maybe a road trip or two this summer.
There are so many bikes out there I was interested in what you guys consider the best Honda's (or others) to buy.
I'd be interested in another sports bike. If I went that route it would have to be larger than the 500 I used to ride and nothing too crazy, maybe an older CBR 600.
If I went cruiser style, maybe a nighthawk or a CB? I don't know a lot about Honda bikes, but if I went this route I would consider something with a smaller engine i.e. CB400 but I don't want one of the big Harley type bikes I know that Honda makes.
Thanks for taking the time to read and if you have any suggestions/thoughts/inputs/stories I'd love to hear em.
Happy riding!

Older CBRs are good for what they are. Don't know your riding preference, but I always prefered a standard to a sports bike. You can get a more comfortable CB550, 650, 750 or a Nighthawk for the same money or less and they seem to hold resale value better.

Thanks for the reply. They certainly do hold their value well, considering a CB from the 70's seems to go for the same as a CBR from the 90's.
Haven't ever owned an old bike and wonder how it is to ride/own a bike from the 70's because to be honest, I wouldn't really want a car from the 70's (unless it was my project) simply because the cars from recent times are so much better to drive/own. Does that correlate to bikes as well?

Eh... sometimes a little harder to find parts, but aside from that there isnt much difference. With proper maintenance and usage they are just as reliable.

Ive been riding street bikes for 30 yrs,,Owned about everything. Time and time again Ive gone back to the 5th gen VFR's. By far the best all around bike every made,,Im on my 4th now. You should be able to find a decent one in your price range,,,Just read the reviews don't take my word.

If you don't know whether you prefer a cruiser or sportbike or standard, how can we possibly help?
The CBR600F series (F through F4i) are bulletproof, reliable bikes, and they're FAST. However, they're almost always crashed by now, and many times the bodywork is thus fairly broken.
Whatever you do, get a bike that's comfortable and manageable for you.

Just bought a 2012 CBR250R. Not my first time on 2 wheels, but on a street legal motorcycle it is. Easy bike to learn on. Great gas mpg's, cheap insurance and cheap to purchase. Plus you can resell 250's easy.
