Help! Problem with Spoon Caliper/Brembo Rotor/ Axxis pad setup
Heres the deal, I had a new set of Brembo rotors and Axxis metal matrix pads installed today. It seems as though the brake pads are constantly rubbing against the calipers. I am running Spoon 4 pots as well. Anyone ever had this before? Suggestions? Any help would be great!
Where do you think it's supposed to be? I love it when people answers a question with a question.
Put it in between. You'll know if you set it right if the center line of the caliper lines up with the center of the rotor.

And the washer is in between the caliper and the knuckle? It should be dead center of the rotor/smack dab in the middle of the cooling fins/vanes (the center line of the caliper, that is). And the amount it would be off by the thickness of the washer (I think it was like 2mm or something like that). If not, dunno what to say. Just go out and slam on the brakes a couple of times and wear those pads down. Heh heh heh.
But it has to be some type of install error, IMHO. If it's Type R specific rotors and pads, it should fit.

Sorry, not all pads made for a specific car are all created equal. Some pads (brand new) are much thicker than others.
Chances are you did install it correctly. Using the washer to center the caliper over the rotors, but the pads are just too thick.
Been there, done that. Good luck.

I don't have any problem with mine even the caliper is not sitting in the center. (as I have not money to buy a set of new wheels.. still need a 3mm spacer)

True. I guess I haven't had that problem yet since every pad that I've purchased and tried out came in the correct size and thickness.

brake pads do contact the rotors even if the brakes are not applied, you may need to break them in further. also the spoon calipers are know for pad rattle, that may be what you are hearing too.

Does the Axxis Metal Masters have the wear indicator tabs? If so were they removed?</TD></TR></TABLE>
yes the do. you have to rip those off and shave the bump on the other side off.

It's not a sliding caliper design. The wear indicator tab sits inbetween the caliper and carrier. A fixed caliper design doesn't have that provision to put the tab.
It's not like you need it anyway with a fixed caliper. Just unmount a wheel and you can see how much pads you have left through the top.
