Turbo Heat sheilds

wouldn't that leave all the heat inside the turbo and cook it up?
I was going to get the one they sell at summit racing, where it raps the whole turbo, but i herd it keeps all the heat inside and kills the life of the turbo
they are like 68 bucks at summit racing

interesting, but I don't know about spending that kind of $. As long as your A/C lines or hoses are wrapped with some sort of thermal tape you should be fine.

the more expensive atp units are actually made out of high end metals like inconnel, stainless, aluminum.... and whatnot other materials, so they are very expensive.
the ones that bag the whole turbo and other designs are made more of a conventional material... less expensive to manufacturer and sell.

the idea behind it is this
the heat and energy from the combustion process is what drive the turbo..
keeping the heat in the housings and the manifolds will greatly increase the amount of energy getting to the turbo....
i dont beleive it lessesn the life of the turbo....but who knows
plus i havent run one of these

I've heard that some materials retain moisture from car being parked outside overnight and tend to promote rusting and what not?
But I do like an all metal idea for a heatshield.
