What wires are you talking about? Are you talking about the wires on the car, or the wires coming out of the tach? If you are talking about the ones from the tack then:

Red = 12V+ Switched
Black = Ground

I think there is a green wire, and something else. If there is a green wire then I'm pretty sure that one is for the tach signal wire from the dist. then the other on will be your illumination wire. If you go under your hood, ground the black wire and start touching the other ones to the red post on the battery you will be able to figure out thich one is for the lights.

I hope this helps you out a little bit, if you have any more questions, IM me and I'll help you out more.

Blue wire on the dist plug (ck)
Or pull the whole dash panel(held in by clips + 2 screws on top of plastic pointing up) then pull the gauges (4 screws) same blue wire, plus your close to the parking lights (I mostly drive fast at night so I like my gauges lit, how bout you)
Test: using A multi meter ah **** it the only other blue wire has a white stripe on it , so im sure you'll find the right wire.
Have fun...

Correct. use the blue wire. I would say tap into this wire right behind the gauge cluster so that you don't have to run a wire all the way through your engine bay. The first time I installed my tach I ran it thgough the engine bay, and it looked like ****. I then relocated it to the gauge cluster and got rid of all that loose wire I ran under the hood and it looks soooo much better now.
