HELP: A lot of white smoke out the exhaust
We just finished the swap, put a 97 gsr in my 96 civic. And i'm getting a lot of white smoke out the exhaust when im on the accelerator and it sounds really gurgly, like a wrx sounds. It looks like a snowblower out the exhaust. The engine bay smells like gas, but i cant tell where its coming from. Also I checked the dipstick and it does not look milky nor is there any white substance; so i figured it may not be the headgasket. Also I put fresh gas in it. Any ideals?
does it over-heat, did u break it in right if u rebuilt it that is, make sure u tighten every hose( happened to me), if its not the head-let it idle for a long time to see if the smoke lessens, it could be collected moisture(how does it smell + does it linger in the air) All I know its a leak, Back-track
A bit more info....
Is it built?
Was the motor ever taken apart?
Did the motor come out of a running car that you saw?
Now......
Did you compression test it?
Are you loosing any oil?
White smoke HUH...Is it white or does it look a bit blueish as well?
Smoke Clored:
Black = Running Rich (Fuel)
White = Bad rings etc.. (Oil)
Blue/White = Head Gasket etc.. (Coolant & Oil)
I have in the past seen a car spilling gas out from the exhaust and have white smoke too! With the gurgling check to see if your running on all 4 cylinders. Check your timing.
Good Luck!
