Default Speed cut off

Ok, here is the senario, I was racing a Lancer Evo on the highway. I reached bout 100 mph and my car seemed like it did not want to go any faster. Now I have an 03 ex auto. I have had auto's in the past and sticks from tegs, civs, and accords. I have never had that happen before. Now the dash says 140. Has anyone else ran into this ever.

I'm not surprised if the Civics have a speed governor. The Type S for sure will be able to go up to fuel cutoff in 5th gear, around 140mph.

Maybe your EX was limited by the gearing and the wind?

Why the **** would you be going 155 miles/hour? One slip and you'll end up with a rail in the middle of your car, and other people will "feel sorry" for you.

why are you racing an Evo? the CR-V is limited to 100mph because in the states, all trucks and suv's are governed at 98-100mph. your civic should be able to reach at least 130mph...did you have the shifter in D3? 3rd gear in many honda's usually reach the rev limiter by about 100mph, 2nd gear hits the limiter around 60mph. did the calculations a while on stock-spec auto g2 integra b18a, g3 integra b18b, EM civic d16 vtec...that was the average for the 3. math is fun...sometimes.
another reason for speed limiters is tires. if your tires are T-rated(i think this is correct), they are not rated about 100mph. H- and S- rated tires, which are stock on many honda's are rated to 128mph and 140mph, respectivaly. if you have tires with a lesser rating, honda may have governed the car to keep from going over the tires limit and you having a blow-out.

uhh, the type-s doesnt have a speed limiter...my brother got his to 152 mph, I have the 2002 civic Si and i have toped out my car in 5th gear and hit redline limiter to 141. Your little EX is just not powerful enough i guess, windage and air temp have alot to do with it also!

WHY would ANYONE drive 150 in something other than closed course competition? That is the dumbest thing I have heard(well almost) I will admit, I have once gone over 100, but that was it. it isn't because I am too scared to go faster, I just know that it is one of the dumbest things anyone could do, and it is dangerous. Think about it, would you rather be alive, or drive 150 mph and push your luck till your dead or worse, someone else is dead?

I've only done it once and that when I 1st broke in 3000 miles. It was like 2 in the morning. Plus a Type S can hit 150 pretty fast.

In Germany all people who own a potent car and the traffic situation allows it drive 120 mp/h+. I think it's not so dangerous.

If I travel long distances in my Ed9 i drive between 100 and 130mp/h if it is allowed there on the Autobahn (Highway)

I drove 143 mp/h with it. No Problem here.
