what should i get stock oem axles or aftermarket axles??
Sorry if i posted in the wrong area I'm a newb
Both my CV boots are totally torn off(for over a year) and I have been holding off replacing them and now it's about that time. Everyone tells me I need to change my axles when I replace my CV boots. So I just want to know what you all recommend in axles. What are the pros and cons of OEM and Aftermarket axles??
I dont really have that much power in my car it's just an EG with a B18c1 with basic bolt ons.
Thanks in advance!!

I would just get some good aftermarket. I got some on my teg. No probs, also come with a life time warranty on the shaft of course.
With your setup, oem axles will do. You have to making mad power maybe 200 hp or more at the wheel to be concern with axle setup. Just my opinion.
thanks for the advice fellas, Yeah i have talked to a lot of people and they were just saying go OEM. So now i'm in the process of finding a shop that has them for cheap or i'm even thinking about checking out a couple junkyards maybe depending on there condition
Just remove both of your axles, take them to a place that rebuilds axles, have them rebuilt (ranges from $40-60 per axle), them reinstall them back in your car.
OEM
Aftermarket
In my experience the couple of aftermarket axels I bought while cheaper than OEM, ended up not being worht the time or money. The CV joints on all went after about 15k to 20k.
And they vibrated horribly.
I got 100k out of the originals, so back to OEM for me.

OEM should be good, I'd personally move up the the ITR axles due to the increased strength, but thats just me. If you want, buy some from Napa or Pep Boys with the lifetime warranty, and just take them back for free replacements.

oem all the way
oem all the way
i say it doesnt matter
because with oem you have reliability but no warranty
or you can go to autozone or any part store for that mater
and get some remanufactured oem axles that have a
lifetime warranty so in the instance one of your axles do
break you can always get a new one
just my opinion
or you could spend 500 bux on a high hp set that will last you forever because of warranty and the fact that they are completely rebuildable

Oem is defenetely better, also a lot more expensive. In autozone you can get BOTH for like 200.So what if they last for 20000 or even 5000; if they break, you take them out and change them...Easy
Never buy axles...again.

hmmm, this sounds like my best bet i think i will do this. What is exactly done when they rebuild an axle?? i'm not familiar with this and what is the average amount of time does it take?? I need my car to commute to work, hopefully not too long!

DO NOT GET REMANUFACTURED AXLES. Trust me, they suck. I broke an axle the first night I had my car at the track, wasn't making anything special in the power department, but when you buy remanufactured/"aftermarket" axles, they are prone to breaking easy. By Aftermarket, I mean they are non-oem axles. I'm sure DSS and some other places out there have great axles, but the ones I bought from Keystone sucked. I was pissed, because when I first got the axles, the cv boots were ripped, and they wouldn't replace them for me.

Well, they *shouldn't* take more than a couple hours, if that, to rebuild them. The place I go to in my hood needs about a 2 hour window to get them done.
When they rebuild the axles, they put all new axle boots on, repack the grease, and replace any bearings that went bad....as far as I know.
Do it on the weekend, SATURDAY I suggest, as most axle rebuilding places are closed on Sunday's.
The good thing about doing it this way is that you getta keep your actual OEM axles, but replace the wear + tear parts.

Get some Raxles. They use 100% new joints, they make some of the highest quality axles i have ever seen and they use Amsoil sythetic grease inside.
well i took my axles to this local shop in my area on saturday morning and they were going to charge me $55 per axle and said they would be done at 5:00pm so i get back there at 4:30 on saturday hoping they would be done early. Low and behold they were closed
yes i was pissed!! and they are closed on Sundays also. So they call me on monday morning saying they closed early and couldnt get a hold of me and they were sorry. To make a long story short they only charged me $90 for both and gave a me a voucher for a free oil change!
wow they look brand new!! I took pics of them when i took them out and i'm going to take pics of them rebuilt so you can see the difference in them i'll post them if anyone wants to see them. Well off to get my hands dirty! Hopefully i have no problems installing them. One thing that i am iffy about is there is no type of "warranty" for there work on the axles?? is this common??
Thanks for everyones help/input.
