Default urgent transmission question (b-series)

The transmission that was intalled with my recently finished swap is decidedly shot and in need of a replacement . Fortunately, the motor and trans came with a 6 month warranty from the import auto salvage where I purchased the complete swap . Anyway, now that I know that I am going to be going through the hastle of dealing with this company and trying to get them to find an acceptable replacement, I am hoping to find out which b-series transmissions will work. I assume that any b-series tranny will bolt right up, but I was hoping to find out if anyone has experience or knowledge of how ls, gsr, itr, ctr trannys perform. The motor is a 1994 b18c1 w/mileage at 65,000 (so they said when I bought it), so I also would need to know about how much money this trans is worth, compared to the others and how it compares (in prince/performance) to newer b18c trannys, b16 trannys, etc etc. About how much would a fair mechanic charge to fix a transmission, assuming it is totally shot?

Thanks for any help or advice

Generally, any B-series trans bolts to any b-series engine, but bear in mind that 92+ transmissions require a different clutch disc than the older ones. Clutch release changed from cable to hydro in 94. 92+ transmissions are all very similar internally. The GSR/ITR (not sure about the CTR/Si) transmissions differ in gearing, final drive, and have dual cone synchros on 2nd gear and a different 3rd/4th synchro setup than the LS models. You should be able to find a breakdown of ratios for the different units by searching some forums.
Gearing should be matched to the powerband of the engine, and I would stick with the 94+ GSR trans if I were you. I think these go for around $600 in the classifieds here.
