Default Converting '96 Accord to OBD1

Hey guys, i've done some searching and need to know whether the only thing required to convert to OBD1 is the harness? I've seen some suggestion that there is a need to swap to an OBD1 distributor, and possibly even a throttle body, but i would think that just a harness and an OBD1 ECU is necessary?

This is so i can run a P28 and Uberdata (not Hondata, so the OBD1 conversion isnt just me wasting money )

Has anyone done this? If i cant go OBD1 and uberdata then i'll most likely be going with a Haltech E6X, since i can get one cheaper than Hondata would cost me...

Cheers

I ahve the OBDII motor and OBDI ECU. runs fine until you decide to retard the timing for boost. Your ca rwill run without the Dist but its pretty advanced in timing since the ECU no longer changes the timing So i would either swap the dist or just notch the OBDII one and use it to adjust timing. Its your call.

why is the timing retard an issue? If you adjust the timing on the ECU ignition maps it should work fine shouldnt it, i mean wouldnt be adjusting the base timing on the dizzy

The answer is prolly obvious but i'm not getting it at the moment

On my 97 when i went OBDI, my timing became advanced while im running the hack for boost. So if your just driving normal your fine.

Also if you have the programmable timing maps then you should also be fine.

nope i'm manual

ahhh OK, i get what you're saying when applied to the hack. Yeh that hopefuly shouldnt be an issue for me, as the ignition maps will be changed at the ECU and not the base timing at the dizzy

Sounds sweet, might have to give it a go

i tried it on my 97 accord lx and the car ran like ****, it would barely run. and i tried different ECU's to see if that was the prob and it still did it. All i did was the OBDII to OBDI convernsion harness and the ECU. Didnt work for me but good luck to someone if they want to try.

EGR and HO2S terminals are switched on the accord harnesses/ecu's. Swapping those around will work.

for those of you with timing issues..did you replace all of the OBD II components or just switch ECUs and use a jumper? i converted the my OBD II to OBD I by swapping everything out such as EGR, distributor, injectors, blah blah blah, and used a stock OBD I harness and OBD I ecu. i havent had any problems.

if you have everything,, just transfer it all over. it will most likely save you time and money becaue you wont have to worry about buying a jumper or bing more wire, or what have you. it wll be more work, but trust me..you'll probably learn a lot about the car.
