Instal questions
I just purchased a cd player and some infinity speakers for my 90 civic si. When i purchased the car there was no radio, no nothing-just a hole and a clump of wires with all the ends showing. There are no brackets or anything, just a metal bar that runs across the center consol that looks like the cd player would sit on.
I checked out the speaker wire ran to the doors and the back and it is all messed up. It looks like the old speaker wire was cut, but still left, and then there is some other speaker wire there that looks pretty shitty. In the back there is speaker wire ran, isn't each wire supposed to hook up to a terminal? because on each double speaker wire (+/-) one is cut and there is a hookup for just on terminal. How does this work??
What will i need to get the cd player to mount? What should a do about the speaker wire? How do i wire the cd player considering the only harness i see is about 6 bare wires. Thanks

Should be able to attatch the cd players mounting cage into the radio housing( the section of dash trim you remove to access inside the dash ), that should hold the headunit just fine. If wanted, you could take a peice of strapping material, and attatch it to the metal bar running through the dash( this is the attatchment point for the back side of the stock headunit ).
The wiring will need to be tested to identify all the necassary leads, unless someone on here knows the color codes from the stock harness. You will need to locate the factory memory, switched power, and possibly illumination wires...you can track all of these with a multimeter. The stock ground can be located and used, or you can just ground it to a secure metal section in the dash.
You will need a pair of wires for each speaker......one positive, one negative. these can be located in the dash by just doing a continuity check from the door speaker wires, to the wires in the dash.
good luck, if someone has the color codes for the harness, they can save you a lot of time......if not, I will try to get them from my car later this week, when I get a chance.
This would be a lot easier if some goob hadn't cut your factory harness.......It took me all of 10 minutes to install the cd player in my crx( well maybe a few minutes longer, I soldered all the connections..but you get the point ).
You can always crimp new connectors onto the stock wiring if it is ok..just splice the wiring that came with the infinity's......should be all you need on that end.
