accord rack and pinion question?
have a 90 accord, and the steering has started to act funny.
some times it has power and sometimes it feels like it has no power. sometimes when you turn the wheel, the wheels don't turn right off, they hesitate and then turn only part of the way. the assumption is I have a bad rack. has any one had this problem?
also, I can get a rack from a 90 integra for free. will this bolt in?
much thanks to anyone that can help.

well, this is my wifes DD. so power steering is needed. and the whole thing about the wheel not turning some of the time is scaring the crap out of her. thanks for the input though. anyone else got any ideas?

Have you checked the fluid level?

Have you checked the fluid level?
DD = daily driver
I checked the fluid, that was my first assumption. it was a little low but nothing to be worried about. I have had hondas before but I never had any problems out of the steering. I mainly work on trucks and older cars, on those you rarly have the same kind of systems because of the space that they need for the front wheel drive. is this the typicle symptoms of the rack failing or is it just an indication of another problem I could be over looking?

Top off the fluid first. I have a 91 accord that is doing the same thing and I noticed that power steering fluid is leaking from the right and left side of the rack. I let a shop look at it and they said that I need to replace the rack.
