Default EX Stock Exhaust

I need a new exhaust system. My stock system on my 96 Accord LX really sucks and has a very small leak that is starting to get worse. I can't afford to buy a $500+ catback system, I can afford like $250. I was wondering if I replace my exhaust with the EX dual tip if it would give me any more power. The guy that I bought my intake from says it wont. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

P.S. I don't want some big crazy muffler w/ tip but something that looks good and hopefully preforms.

i dont know about the EX exhaust, but you can get a universal muffler and a pipe and itll be just as good as a $500+ exhaust system, IMO...

I heard that the universal muffler kits sound really sh!tty. I was thinking of getting a universal kit and have a shop custom fit a pipe for it from the cat back. Anyone ever done this?

So if I did that it wouldn't sound sh!tty?? Or would the EX exhaust be a better Idea?

If you can get an OE unit for a decent price, it'd probably be better to go with the OE unit instead of those hit-or-miss aftermarket universal mufflers. The EX muffler will not give you any power gain, but I guess does at least look nicer than the LX exhaust.

PS you might not need to replace the muffler at all, if the leak is just in the B-pipe, you can just replace that section if you're on a real tight budget.

If I were to get a universal muffler and a custom pipe what should I get for the uni muffler? How much does it usually cost to have a custom pipe done? Thanks very much for the info.

If you want an OEM EX exhaust, I have mine available... it's been chilling in the basement for about 4 years now....
