With a full head upgrade and 12:1 compression you're looking at maybe 150whp...

3 Cars is a lot...have you run your car in the quarter yet? What mods do you have? 14's NA are easy if you have slicks and tuning...on street tires its a little bit more difficult...what is your budget? and N20 is NOT NA.

talk to builthatch or exospeed on this message board. I believe builthatch has an sohc vtec pushing 164 whp. They should be able to help you on this subject matter.

my ears were burning...

You can build an affordable and reliable y8 with mostly honda parts that will make stock b18c5 type wheel hp and almost c1 tork...Though I've never run this build in the quarter mile, similar builds have gone mid-13's w/ tiny slicks and full interior. This type of build is enough to fend off most pesky swaps buzzing around nowadays.

if you got really crazy, you could make alot more power, but you'd be spending alot more loot...and sacrificing reliablity. If you want max NA power, swap.

If you have the money but don't want to not follow the beaten path of swapping, build the y8 to handle juice (well hidden juice of course)...no one has to know why your "NA" sohc is making 250 whp and running 12's...

an h22 swap is not cheap either (though i considered it at one point cuz at the time it was not so common )

The juiced and properly built y8 would cost about the same, be faster than the h22 w/ bolt ons, and make you more money (if they still do that anymore...)

****, for the loot of a h22 swap, you could build a D and boost it to OWN.

h22 swap is cool tho, i wont lie; Fun factor would be about the same, depends on what gets you going, embarrassing a corvette with an h22 swap or with an "NA" sohc...

please explain this. I mean for the 3k your gonna spend on getting a b16 in there you will have a d series making more power. Unless you have long term goals other than just boltons for a b series then just stick with the D. Also a turbo D can easily rape B series motors.

I suggest just build the bottom end of you’re motor up and put on a turbo, that’s what I am doing (I also have a d16y8). just to bad Edelbrock's turbo is on backorder atm or I would let you know how it does

i want you guys to tell bisi that d series are a waste of time......

you guys that say for the price you can have a b series...... think about it take the b18c5....5 grand for a complete swap right????? imagine if you threw 5 grand into a d series.

crower stroaker kit.....bore it.020 over making it a 2.0 , give it 12.5:1 or 13:1 comp
crower stage 3 head. JG intake mani . bisimoto or smsp header. i doubt thats 5 grand worth of ****...little stuff like P&P you can do yourself.....
i bet that would work most b series motors for less money.....sure you are limited , but if thats what your goal is , then you have reached it right?

power can be made with a sohc vtec,my z6/y8 hybrid was pitting 138hp to the ground.the most importan part is the head, iat that time it had a p&p head,milled.060,a crower stage 2 cam,and cheap ractive i/h/e nothing else.and that was with no tunning, only one run.

the d have potencial, but if you want all motor power get a b,i am going to get a b16a with a cable trany, make it hydro, and stoke it,i think that's the cheapest way to go if you want cheap allmotor power.

get your compression up around 12:1, p&p head, a decent sized cam like crower st2 or something, tune it like there is no tomorrow. also look for other stuff that can get you a few extra hp here and there- ie bigger tb, hondata or other intake insulating gasket.....should be seeing around 150 whp give or take. if its still not fast enough and u dont want f/i try getting lighter flywheel and do a lil bit of weight reduction. should help out a little
