Default Getting smog legal in CA

Has anyone had any experience with becoming completely smog certified in SD with a motor swap. I have a OBD1 JDM GSR in a Civic EK (96) and would like to know what else someone would need to add to jump up to OBD2.

Thanks guys

you are going to have one major problem because the swapped motor has to be either the same year of your car or newer being that your car is a 96 and obd2 you need a 96 and up motor

well your fucked you need a motor that is the same year as your car or newer. **** can't happen with your motor.

if you luck out and hook up all OBD2 emmision requirments and are lucky enough to get a REF tech that will say the motor is a 96 based solley on the smog equipment then your ok. but thats a big bet to go on cause once you go there they put al that **** in memory.

I've been told that since its a JDM motor the year doesn't matter because they don't use the year in their engine emissions stuff, so if it has all of the obd2 smog equipment then its kewl. Don't know if this is true, I'm too scared to call the smog ref.

Has anyone out there actually made their illegal swap legal?

well technically speaking i have. cause the swap isn't legal tell you get the bar sticker.

and they don't give a **** if your motor came from mars its still has to meet the minimum reqirments for the year of the motor and the motor must be the same year or newer then the car.

oo and good luck on going the shady route. it is a fellony, i think 30000 dollar fine and up to 10 years in jail if the person who smogs you illegaly gets caught you will have to be an extremly stupid human to attempt this.

and from what i have heard from people who own shops. Even if they wanted to attempt to do this they couldn't, now i now there is a way around almost everything but people that im freinds with said they couldn't do it not wouldn't they said couldn't.
