on the head, there will be a casting: either pr3 or p72 -- pr3 = ITR engine. Also, look at the intake manifold. It will be smooth, and look like this:

That should help.

GSR manifold wont fit on the ITR head.

The PR3 is on the head casting above the header.

Skunk2 Intake manifolds look pretty much identical to a ITR intake manifold...

Look on the left side of the head and find out what year it is. Its the farthest circle on the left. If it has a JDM ITR tranny, is should say N4E LSD (I think). If it has the stock header, it should be a JDM ITR 4-1, which you can identify it by. Also, there should not be a VTEC pressure switch on the head. The head should also say PR3-X, X being some number. If it says P72, don't buy it. Check the ECU, should be a P73.

Is it the same N4E for both 96 spec and 98+? since 96 had the 4.40 FD and 98 had the 4.785
And the 4-1 was also only 98+

Thanks man. The paint is "Rustoleum Dark Bronze Metallic" - got it at a local craft store. It doesn't have the stock texture, i used Jasco paint remover to take the factory finish off.

hey unsung em1 sorry to bother you again but i'm curious did you put any enamel or any clear coat ofver the "Rustoleum Dark Bronze Metallic paint? because if not i would imagine that eventually it would fade away. What order did you apply the paints if indeed you did use more than one? also you know of any other nice paints i dont exactly wanna copy you so i'm curious if there are like a nice gunmetal or maybe a cool silver?
