Default 1500 idle? (searched)

about a week ago i noticed my throttle getting a little sticky, and sometimes after letting on the gas, the throttle wouldnt go allthe way down to 0%. i had the tb cleaned and everything was great for a coupe days.

the throttle is still fine, no sticking at all, but my idle is very high. i had a little problem prior to the tb cleaning, but afterwards it was back to normal. now when im in neutral the throttle still reads 0%, but its idling around 1500.

if i tap the gas, it will rev up and drop down to 850 for a sec, then will raise back up to the mid 1000's. the idle isnt jumping around, it holds steady... just alot higher than it should. does that still sound like a iacv problem? and my idle control is turned all the way down.

i also read about checking for vacuum leaks... what hoses should be checked? i dont know much about that stuff. if you have any pics thatd be great.
thanks.

The engine is going to idle high, untill it is warmed up. That is what the fast idle valve does, lets a little air past the throttle plate when it's cold, which raises the idle..(Which is why it has coolant hoses running through it, so when it warms up to the right temp, it closes)

ummm definitely not.

700 - 800 is normal.

it should only idle that high on a cold start for a few minutes. Then back down to 700.

damn guys dont you know you have to let your car warm up. My car starts around 1500 as well on a cold start and I sit there 3-4 minutes and my idle goes back to 800 every time.

of course i let it idle til it warms up. i dont put it in gear until it is totally warm, but thats not what im talking about.

ill be cruising around town and come to a light... stop and put it in neutral. thats when it jumps up. i dont want to adjust the fast idle valve like ive read some do, cause then itll just stay low and take longer to warm up.

i noticed it happen the worst after i had been under hard acceleration on the freeway. if there was air in the line would flushing the coolant system fix that problem?

and does this sound like a iacv problem? or does that usually cause an erratic idle

do you happen to have APC stickers all over your car as well?? 1500 is definitely not normal. 700-800 is normal. check your idle screw. my car did the same thing cuz i was stupid and let one of buddies mess the screw. but anyways....dont mess with it yourself just take it to a honda shop. they shouldtn charge you anything to adjust that. also check the fast idle control valve and make sure that is clean as well. since you said it is not surging and steadily staying at 1500 then it should be the idle screw.

you in no way made reference to cold weather. if you were more clear on your statements then it would not have sounded so stupid.
