Silly Q...where's the ignition wire for autometer gauges
I have never hooked up gauges before and electrical stuff worries me
Hate to accidentally short something.
TIA

you can tap into the fuse box for the power wire.
ground, obviously, gets grounded
and the signal wire goes to where ever you are getting signal from (o2 for a/f, sensor for oil, etc)

Many thanks Leo. You mean the fuse box inside the car yes-not the one in the engine compartment? Damn this thing has taken forever to get together, especially the metric to npt fittings.
Yes, hook up to the fuse box in the car. If you are installing more than one gauge in teh car then you can do what I did. I think that it is a lot of extra work, but I put in 5 gauges though. I ran one common wire for the power and got myself a little wiring block from radio shack and just hooked all of my gauges up to that, then all i had to hook into my fuse box was that one common wire to power them all. I think that it took me a little longer to do, but with all of that wiring it made it look a lot nicer when I was done with the install.
Thanks. That is a really good idea. I'll do that. I only have two gauges now, however I'll be adding at least two more in the future.
i did the same actually, for both the power and the ground. elimates a lot of troubleshooting for your install..
NPT - why are you switching over? what gauges are you installing? If an oil pressure (sounds like it) buy the electric gauge, tap into the back of the block (a little hard to get to, but it sounds like your motor is apart anyway) and install a tee if you want to keep the stock sensor. btw - dont put the tee on the block directly! too much stress! just use some braided line, hook the tee up to that if necessary, and the new oil sensor to the head with a hose clamp, i found a good spot on the intake mani.)

Bingo. If you want to eliminate any risks of possible damage to your interior from anything like oil or fuel, get all electrical gauges. I am very happy that I just spent the extra money to get all electrical gauges instead of those damn machanical ones.

I'm putting in oil pressure and temperature and they're all electrical. Later will be boost, A/F, or thermocouple. I have the sensors off the remote oil filter like the setup on the hybrid board. Installing the front mount oil cooler wasn't exactly easy...I just hope I don't have any cooler problems cause the thing is big.
