Auto to Manual ECU problem
Recently i did an auto to manual conversion on my d16y8 and i finally got the final part to complete the swap, the ecu.
Here is the problem:
When i plug in the manual ecu, the car does not start. Also i found that if i unplug the automatic transmission plug fron the auto ecu the car wont start. I know it is possible to swap the ecu's, because i read that it has bee done many times before. What wiring do i need to change in order for the manual ecu to work. I know that the manual ecu is in working condition because i plugged it into my friends civic that cam manual from the factory and it works perfectly.

Did you hook any of the wires up to make the car think its in park ? You can't just plug in the ecu and be done. You have to cross some wires up to make the car think its in park.
ive been driving the car for a month now with the auto ecu connectted with all 4 plugs in. Once i remove the auto plug the car wont start. I got the manual ecu so the car would idle better and there would be no check engine light.
you will want to keep that auto ecu in until you swap the intake manifold to a manual one and rewire/repin the iacv. If you dont it will have a bouncing idle and be almost undriveable under 5mph.
As far as the wiring it depends on if you cut the auto shifter slider off or not. If not just put it in park and it should start ok. If you cut it off I can explain the wiring. Again, I would stay with the auto ecu until you are ready to swap the intake manifold and take care of the iacv difference
