Rough idle after timing belt change?!!?
Ok, I just replaced my timing belt/water pump on my stock 94 ls. When i aligned the cam gears/oil pump gear, they were all perfectly lined up, with the cam gears pointing directly up. Now whenever i start it, it has a little trouble idling until it gets warmed up, and even then the idle is a little rough. My gas mileage is also much worse than what it was before the t-belt change.
Any ideas as to what caused this? Could the ignition timing be off? Thanks

I would check the timing.
I did get a problem similiar to this after the timing belt change. Turn out the timing belt was off a couple of teeth.

Do you mean cam timing or ignition timing? Because the up arrows on the cam gears were perfectly up and the mark on the oil pump gear aligned perfectly.
Id allways change the oxy sensor.....it my just be ironic that it "pitched" at the same time you changed the belt.....but yeah, checking the belt timing is the first thing to do.
A bad Oxt sensor will cause the same things you just mentioned & its a $50 part.

The up arrows are not PERFECTLY vertical. They only tell you whether you're completely upside-down. The REAL marks are on the sides of the sprockets.
Someone's gotta have a picture of this... but I'm too lazy to look for it. Well, your Helm shop manual has a real good picture. You do have a Helm book, right?
